This Loss goes to the Coaches and Dolphins Stadium.
I refuse to sit by and praise every single move that Randy Shannon makes, like everyone else. The guy is a recruiting machine, but as far as his coaching tactics, I have not once been impressed. One thing Coach Shannon needs to learn is how to customize his game plan during a game. IE. Just because you decided in pre-game that you would pull Robert Marve in the second quarter, doesn’t mean you are FORCED to do that. In today’s game, we had Marve playing lights out, and then out of nowhere, in comes Harris. Harris realistically led us to a three and out, but was saved by a ‘running into the kicker’ call. You could just see the vibe on the field and the sidelines changes when Harris comes in. The players realize the Marve is the real deal and they have something going with him, and once he is pulled, momentum ceases to exist. If you don’t believe me, then you clearly aren’t watching these games objectively. After the switch, we did nothing for two quarters. And I’ve had enough of the “well Harris needs experience just in case Marve gets hurt” argument.
1. How about winning some games RIGHT NOW and hoping that Marve doesn’t get hurt?
2. How about getting Harris his experience in the fourth quarter when we are up by four touch downs? The way the game today was going, there is no doubt we would’ve been up by 28 points in the fourth had we stuck with Marve and kept the momentum going
Also, on the coaching end, if you see a guy get burned 8 times and not being able to make one damn tackle, wouldn’t you think about possibly replacing him? Did anyone else see Bruce Johnson literally three yards behind every receiver on every play?
But the coaching isn’t totally to blame… One thing about the Orange Bowl was that I believed it was the ultimate home field advantage in the country. We won so many close games just by the fear that was brought on by the OB. This was one of those games that absolutely would’ve gone out way had this game been played at our old stadium. Dolphins Stadium has absolutely no life. The music is low. The songs suck. There’s no Phil Collins. Everything just sucks, and I put that squarely on Shalala. I’m out. Too pissed to continue.
