Play of the Century
Aside from people in Massachusettes and front-running Patriots fans (Tommy O), you can’t justify to me that this isn’t one of the greatest plays in sports history. This isn’t just my emotions speaking, this was objectively the greatest play I’ve ever seen in my life.
Most of the great plays we remember involve a lot of luck (think Immaculate Reception), but this play was skill at its finest. First of all, the stakes can’t be any higher, as there is just over a minute left in the Super Bowl. You’ve got Eli about to get sacked three times, (which would’ve lead to about a 4th and 12) scrambling (which he’s typically horrible at), throwing it into multiple coverage but putting it where it needs to be caught, and then a catch by Tyree that I’m still trying to figure out how it was possible that he came down with it.
That play had to be the most simultaneous emotional moment in world history. With more eyes glued to TV screens than any other Super Bowl, everyone in the world jumped out of their chair and had their foreheads burried in their hands in some order on the play.
