I enjoy your site, but I wish you guys had kept this one under your hat.

As fans of the program, you should know how outsiders use these types of rumors to re-inforce their stereotypes about the U. As members of the "new media," you also know that once the sensational headline (UM "cuts" scholarships) hits the blogosphere, the details that surface later (the players had already graduated) tend not undo the damage.

I can appreciate the pressure when sitting on a scoop, but can't you limit your reporting of rumors to those that make our program look good?

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of investigative journalism, and I am glad that Sy Hersh didn't sit on the illegal bombing of Cambodia. But when it comes to the U, I have no problem with propaganda.

To the Boss Cane's credit, word is that all of these players have already received their degrees (or will in May)... they would have just been 5th year seniors or players who graduated in 3 years.

What a testimony to Randy Shannon's commitment to education. We'd hate to see incompetent players get a college degree. Perhaps their parents will scrape together the tuition for this vastly overpriced institution.
