Miami Getting More Humid
Just when you thought it wasn’t possible…
four British researchers who hold man-made greenhouse gases largely responsible for a 2.2 percent increase in the amount of moisture in the air near the Earth’s surface during a nearly 30-year period.
And, according to the study published in today’s issue of the weekly journal Nature, the potential consequences could be critical to the Sunshine State.
“If air holds more water vapor, you can get more rain, more energy to power hurricanes and certainly more humidity that produces greater heat stress on humans,” said one of the researchers, Nathan Gillett of the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit in the United Kingdom.
Good lord, glad to see this research, as if global warming wasn’t enough… now there’s a global saunafication of the tropics. Viva South Florida!
