ACC: Not So Crappy After All

ACC Logos

One of these things is not like the other….

FSU beat ‘Bama (ACC: 1, SEC: 0), Virginia took it back to the Barber boys days with their domination of Pitt (ACC: 1, Big East: 0), Maryland… no, not the basketball team… took out the WAY over-inflated Scarlet Knights (ACC: 2, Big East: 0).

Sure, NCST lost, but they really don’t count. The rest of the games were conference games; but there were some tight tilts that should prove well for a competitive race to the Orange Bowl. Clemson went down, but it was on the road to a GT team that has been looking to break out of a slump. Tommy Bowden always loses one of those games, this year it was against the Jackets.

The sports punditocracy has been quick to bemoan the state of the ACC because the big names are “down”, but look at the results. Just because Rutgers is near New York doesn’t make them good.

The Big Least is finally getting exposed. They inflate the record with bad OOC teams to play each other with unbeaten records that serve to give unwarranted hype to conference games.

The Big 11 is horrible, the Big 12 has two um… the ACC looks to be third right now after the SEC and Pac-10. That’s fine with me. And considering the ACC came out of “Sniper in The Room Day” virtually unscathed, should be seen as a win for the conference.

Planning your golf vacations can be really exciting. Shopping for things like golf carts and other golf equipment can be full of alacrity. You don’t need to go and get golf shoes too, but yes, golf clubs are mandatory.

This season it’s Big East 4, ACC 2. Last year it was Big East 7-3. And it’s 2-0 Big East in BCS bowl games.

You had one good weekend and suddenly you don’t suck? Try actually winning a BCS bowl game for once.

Hey, try actually beating some quality opponents… oh wait, you don’t have any. As referenced here http://miamisportsblog.com/2007/10/01/yeah-rutgers-really-deserves-to-be-in-the-top-25-sarcasm/

Yeah, n.c. state doesn’t count, but pitt’s loss to virginia does. Because Pitt is such a dominant team with Wannstache leading them to glory and national prominence. Nice gorilla math.

Well… Pitt does have the ‘Stache, and freshman standout LeSean McCoy… but hey, the Big East is awesome. Especially when UCONN is leading the pack! http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/confstandings?confID=10

As long as you’re just putting the ACC over the Big East, that’s fine. I don’t know that they’ve proven they’re better than the Big 10 or Big 12, other than FSU over Colorado there hasn’t been a lot of cross-pollination between the ACC and those conferences this year. But Dook beat Northwestern, so your smart kids are better at football than the Big 10’s smart kids. That counts for something.

Must have forgot South Florida over Auburn. And West Virginia handily beat Maryland.
